LOSTOCK AC siblings Abigail and Jordan Sunter ran as a pair at the annual Two Crosses event and came home first for the club.
Not to be outdone was dad Albert, who was close behind on the route across the West Pennine Moors.
The 36th annual running of the event allows competitors to choose between a 17-mile or 24-mile route across the moors, taking in the Roman Cross at Affetside and the Pilgrim’s Cross at Bull Hill, passing Turton Tower and the Turton and Entwistle Reservoir.
Seven Lostock members made their way to Greenmount for the 8am start in glorious sunshine, all opting for the 17-mile course.
If the scenery is not enough to tempt you then the delicious food at each checkpoint could be. This is an event where they pull out all the stops out for the food and there’s even trifle at checkpoint six.
However, there was no time to stop for long for the Sunter siblings as they led the green vests home.
After dad Albert had followed them over the line, next home for Lostock was Janet Rhodes, followed by Josie Greenhalgh and Rachel Hancock with Mark Sammon hot on their heels.
On Sunday, Johanna McManus and Rachel Stevens travelled to Wigan for the half marathon.
Again the sun shone and in perfect running conditions, McManus crossed the line in 1hr 46mins, with Stevens following in a respectable 2:04:00.
