HORWICH RMI’s run in the ECB National Club Six-a-side Indoor Cricket Cup came to an end at the penultimate hurdle last weekend.

The winners of the Bolton Cricket League’s Anthony Axford Indoor Trophy had progressed through regional rounds to make the last four at Lord’s.

But they lost out to West Londoners Ickenham in the last four.

The southern outfit batted first and scored 152-2 off their 12 overs - the only wicket-taker for Horwich being Sam Little as one batsman was run out.

In reply, Horwich made a valiant effort as three batsmen reached 25 but on return to the wicket they were run out as they chased the score and finished nine runs short.

Josh Little made 27, Joe Baldwin scored 25 and Jack Berry finished on 30 not out. Ickenham were beaten in the final by Bashley (Rydal) CC.

It was not to be for Horwich, but they could take pride in being the first Bolton League side to reach Lord’s in 20 years.
