WANDERERS (3-5-2)

JAMES TRAFFORD…8.

Two outstanding saves and some confident work coming to claim the ball. Has definitely made progress since signing for Wanderers.

GETHIN JONES…6.5.

Steady day for Jones, restored to the right side of the back three with Sadlier for company on the right. Didn’t get too much chance to wander forward.

WILL AIMSON…7.

One crucial challenge on Griffiths in front of goal but a good day’s work, winning plenty in the air and not wasting much in possession of the ball.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.5.

Hemmed in a little against the lively Barlow and Bostock, Johnston defended his penalty area well. His pre-match warning that it would not be an easy ride was spot on too.

KIERAN SADLIER…7.

Heckled at every opportunity by his former club’s fans, he had the last laugh with a spectacular volleyed winner. Kept plugging away in a position he is still learning.

AARON MORLEY…6.5.

Some real quality on the ball and with set pieces. Arguably Bolton’s most consistent player since January and finishing this season strong.

MJ WILLIAMS…6.

Perhaps hampered a little by that early yellow card but Williams wasn’t quite at his combative best. Looked like he may have lost his runner for the goal on first look.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.

Looked after the ball well but clearly tired in what was his first start since January 11. Good to see him back in the line-up, though, and worked hard.

DECLAN JOHN…6.5.

Showed no ill-effects of his reported hamstring problem, which was a big plus. Got forward well and created one excellent chance for Bakayoko.

JON DADI BODVARSSON…8.

Textbook pressing, always dangerous on the ball and looking to make things happen around him. Looking a class act.

AMADOU BAKAYOKO…7.

The red card debate aside, Bakayoko could have had a first-half hat-trick. But he stayed on task and got the all-important first goal of the day.

Subs: Charles 6, 66 (for Bakayoko) – Potentially saved for an Accy reunion.

Afolayan 74 (for Thomason) – Marvellous cross for the winner.

Kachunga 74 (for Bodvarsson) – Carried on JDB’s relentless press.

Not used: Dixon, Amaechi, Baptiste, Gordon.

Doncaster (4-3-3): Mitchell; Knoyle, R-S Williams, Olowu, Rowe; Smith, Bostock, Clayton; Barlow, Griffiths, Martin.

Subs: Galbraith 55 (for Barlow), Odubeko 74 (for Bostock), Dodoo 88 (for Smith) Not used: Jones, Younger, Jackson, Gardner.

Referee: James Oldham 7/10 – Took a breath and cleared the swarm of Doncaster players before making up his mind on Bakayoko’s yellow card. Sensible.

Attendance: 8,668 (2,968)
