AARON Morley believes he can help drive Wanderers on to success next season, with a little help from his friends!

The former Rochdale midfielder has been virtually ever-present for Ian Evatt’s side since he signed for the Whites in January.

Playing alongside another former Spotland man, MJ Williams, the 22-year-old has helped Bolton produce a sparkling run of form since mid-January.

In fact, since January 15, Morley and Williams have started 18 of 21 games alongside each other, winning 12, drawing four and losing just twice.

“I played with MJ at Rochdale as well and he suits my game down to the ground because he is a bit more defensive than me, and when he’s out there on the pitch he is always talking, so it really helps me,” Morley explained.

“I know I have got a long way to go in my defensive role but I am learning from him every day, he is teaching me how he does thing, and hopefully I can put more of it in place for next season.”

Wanderers have finished the season well, taking 44 points from their last 22 games – a total surpassed only by MK Dons.

Morley has sampled defeat just twice as a starting player and he believes the club can take that positive form into next season.

“Honestly, I am loving every minute of it, even in training, I’m just trying to do everything I can to help this team,” he said.

“It has been a massive step up in terms of the quality of football and the intensity. I’m learning on and off the field, really, but it really has been class.

“Next season I want more goals, more assists, help the defence out with clean sheets, but I definitely think we are good enough to get promotion next season.

“Since I have been here we have been going well. If we take this form into next season then I see no reason why we couldn’t get automatic.

“Before I came to the club they had a dip in form but since January we’ve had long runs unbeaten, and I just think this is a great team to be part of now.”

Wanderers will be joined by Derby County, Barnsley and Peterborough United in League One next season after their relegation from the Championship, plus Forest Green, whose promotion from League Two was also confirmed at the weekend.

“This is a hard league and the teams seem to get better each year,” Morley said. “We need to keep up with that if we want to get promotion next season.

“There are some massive clubs coming down, so we need to put in some big performances against them.”
