THE 2021/22 League One Team of the Season has been revealed – but no Wanderers players have been included.

The announcement was made at the EFL Awards, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night.

Michael Cooper (Plymouth) got the nod in goal, having kept 18 clean sheets in 45 games this term.

The back three is made up of Jack Whatmough (Wigan), Michael Ihiekwe (Rotherham) and Harry Darling (MK Dons).

Meanwhile, James McClean (Wigan), Dan Barlaser (Rotherham), Barry Bannan and Wes Burns (Ipswich) were selected in midfield.

And the front three is made up of Scott Twine (MK Dons), Michael Smith (Rotherham) and Ross Stewart (Sunderland).

Dapo Afolayan and Ricardo Santos were arguably unfortunate to miss out, having made a big impact at both ends of the pitch.

The League One Player of the Season award was also awarded to Twine, who has managed 16 goals and 13 assists in 44 appearances.

Meanwhile, Fleetwood’s Paddy Lane received the Young Player of the Season prize, having impressed for the Cod Army.

And former Bolton defender Leam Richardson was named League One Manager of the Season, with his Wigan side currently top of the table.

Elsewhere in the Football League, Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was named the Championship Player of the Season, while Forest Green’s Kane Wilson claimed the League Two prize.
