BOLTON’S England opener Haseeb Hameed turned in a superb all-round performance to lead Rishton to a first win of the season against Nelson in Lancashire League Division Two last weekend.

Drafted in as a sub professional just hours before the game, Hameed held the Rishton innings together with a fine knock of 83 from 129 balls, including three sixes and two fours.

Hameed passed his half century then hit out before falling to Nelson’s Safyan Ahmed with the score on 132 - the innings ending just three runs later.

The former Tonge and Farnworth Social Circle star, making his Lancashire Cricket League debut, then took 5-48 off 15 overs with the ball as Nelson were all out for 128.
