THE 2021/22 League One campaign is officially in the books following the conclusion of the play-offs, with Sunderland clinching promotion to the Championship.

Attention now turns to next term as Wanderers aim to build on their strong form since the turn of the year.

Ian Evatt has already made it clear that his aim is to push for promotion and continue the Whites’ climb back up the divisions.

The Bolton boss has also hinted there could be several new additions to the squad before the new season gets underway.

Here are all the key dates you need to know heading into the 2022/23 campaign

When does the season start and end?

The League One campaign begins on Saturday, July 30 and will conclude on Saturday, May 6 the following year.

The Premier League and Championship will pause on the weekend of November 12 due to the Qatar World Cup and resume on the weekend of December 10.

League One and League Two will carry on as normal, although current rules state clubs can postpone a fixture if they have at least three players unavailable due to international call-ups.

When will the fixtures be released?

The 2022/23 fixtures for the Premier League and EFL are due to be released at 9am on Thursday, June 23.

Barnsley, Derby and Peterborough will be in League One next season after suffering relegation from the Championship, replacing Wigan, Rotherham and Sunderland.

Gillingham, Doncaster, Wimbledon and Crewe have dropped down to League Two and will be replaced by Forest Green, Exeter, Bristol Rovers and the winner of Saturday’s play-off final between Port Vale and Mansfield.

When does the transfer window open?

The summer transfer window will open on June 10 for English clubs and close at 11pm on September 1 in line with major European leagues.

However, out-of-contract players can switch clubs before the window opens. Free agents can also be signed after the window has closed.

The Whites have already been active on the transfer front, bringing in former Cambridge full-back Jack Iredale on a free transfer.
