WANDERERS will face Port Vale next season after the Valiants recorded a 3-0 win against 10-man Mansfield in the League Two play-off final.

Kian Harratt opened the scoring with a clinical header before James Wilson added a second four minutes later.

Mansfield were then reduced to 10 men when Oli Hawkins was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Nathan Smith nine minutes before the break.

Mal Benning wrapped up the result inside the final five minutes with a composed volley against his former club.

“It is absolutely amazing. We have shown togetherness, spirit, desire,” said manager Darrell Clarke.

“I thought we were excellent in all departments against a talented Mansfield team. To come here and win, I'm over the moon.

“You are obviously delighted to be two up and then they go down to 10 men, but Mansfield kept going and we needed that third to wrap it up.”

Former Wanderers assistant boss David Flitcroft is currently director of football at Port Vale, while Dennis Politic spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Vale Park prior to his move to Italy.

The Valiants join Forest Green, Bristol Rovers and Exeter in winning promotion to the third tier, replacing Crewe, Wimbledon, Doncaster and Gillingham.

Meanwhile, Barnsley, Derby and Peterborough drop down from the Championship in place of Wigan, Rotherham and Sunderland.
