WANDERERS will make their final preparations for the new League One season against beaten play-off finalists Huddersfield Town.

Ian Evatt’s side have now mapped out their pre-season, which will culminate with a home game against the Terriers on Saturday, July 23 (kick-off 3pm).

Taking place the weekend before the start of the regular season, ticket prices for the friendly have not yet been announced but the club hope for a decent turnout in what will be the only home first team match played this summer.

Carlos Corberan’s Huddersfield were narrowly beaten by Nottingham Forest at Wembley last month after finishing third in the regular season.

Wanderers still have one open spot in their schedule, on July 12, having cancelled a friendly at Oldham Athletic following a backlash from supporters.

But otherwise the schedule is now set, with players returning for fitness testing in a week’s time, followed by a training camp in the Algarve from July 19.

Wanderers kick-off their pre-season run in with a trip to North West Counties club Longridge Town on Tuesday, June 28 (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Whites then head to Victory Park to face Chorley in the annual Harold Taylor Memorial Trophy on Saturday, July 2 (3pm).

Wanderers will play Stockport County on Tuesday, July 5 (7.45pm) – but it has been announced that the game will be played behind closed doors at a neutral venue as both clubs’ pitches are undergoing refurbishment.

Evatt’s men then continue their preparations with the annual trip to Atherton Colls at the Skuna Stadium on Wednesday, July 13 (7.45pm).

League Two outfit Carlisle United provide the opposition on Saturday, July 16 (3pm) before the visit of Huddersfield the following weekend.

There are also trips to Bamber Bridge on Tuesday, July 19 (KO 7:30pm), Southport on Tuesday, July 26 (7.30pm) and Warrington on August 2 (7.45pm) – the latter being categorised as a B Team fixture.
