Lostock triathlete Mary White won a silver medal with a superb display at the World Triathlon Duathlon Championships in Romania.

Competing in the (70-74) Female AG Sprint section, White’s speed and tenacity was tested as she completed the 5,400m run, then a 19.5km bike ride before a further 2.5km run.

The GB athlete completed the duathlon in a fantastic 1hr 30mins 44secs.

Meanwhile, 11 club runners took part in the annual Two Lads fell race - a local event of five miles.

Starting behind the Bridge Inn at Horwich, runners ascend up through Wilderswood before continuing straight ahead up the footpath to the water tank before a loop around Smithills Moor.

Then it is over to the Two Lads cairn before the descent for home.

Paul Edwards, fresh from leading Lostock home the previous week, did the same again, finishing in a brilliant 14th place in 36:55.

Next home for Lostock was Colin Faulds (39:22) followed by Tom Smith (41:57) with Tom Grundy (42:08) hot on his heels.

Then, it was a battle for next place between Samantha Sale and Jordan Sunter.

Sale passed Sunter on the ascent and managed to keep the lead until the final descent when Sunter sailed past her, finishing in 43:32.

Sale was next and first lady back for Lostock - and first FV45 - in 44:51.

Next across the line and first MV60 was Albert Sunter in 46:21, followed by Rachel Hancock (51:11), Michele Sunter (53:08), Stephen Hancock (56:03) and Jocelyn Chadderton (1:01:24).
