Wycombe will not sit back and settle for a point when they take on Wanderers, according to boss Gareth Ainsworth.

The Chairboys head to the UniBol on Saturday afternoon and Ainsworth is expecting a tough test against Ian Evatt’s men.

"Bolton have had really good form from the start of the year and made some excellent signings,” he said.

“We need to make sure we are on it. We are missing a couple of big players through injury but we go there full of confidence looking to win."

Ainsworth’s side kicked off the new season with a comfortable 3-0 win against Burton Albion at Adams Park.

David Wheeler opened the scoring after seven minutes, with Anis Mehmeti and Josh Scowen also on target during a dominant opening 45 minutes.

“There is no getting carried away,” the manager added. “We know what it takes to achieve in this league and we are going to have to be on it week in, week out and hopefully we can get the results. One game doesn’t make a season, but it is a nice start.

“I think it is a nice barometer – yes we are fit, yes we understand the tactics. But we are going to have to do that when we come up against some big, big sides in this league.

“I have got the depth that I have wanted, but it is now about keeping everyone fit and in the zone. Training this week has been really good, the boys have been really on it.

“I just wish the boys had kicked on in the second half and added a few more, but we will save them for [Bolton].”

The Chairboys have brought in four fresh faces so far this summer, with Jasper Pattenden, D’Mani Mellor, Christie Ward and Josh Blunkell all making the switch to Adams Park.

And Ainsworth is keen to bring in further additions before the transfer window closes.

“It is well documented that we are trying. We have tried for a few and have missed out,” he explained.

“But again, we will not be paying over the odds and ridiculous money for players that we don’t think are worth it. We are really pleased with what we have got at this moment.

“I think people love change just because it is change but for me, you need to change for the right reasons.”

Wanderers suffered a 2-0 defeat against Wycombe at the UniBol last season after goals from Brandon Hanlan and Jack Grimmer.
