Lloyd Isgrove and Josh Sheehan made their comebacks as Wanderers’ B Team kicked off their Central League campaign with a 1-0 win at Fleetwood Town.

The pair both managed to get 60 minutes under their belts as they stepped up their recoveries from hamstring and knee injuries respectively.

George Thomason also got a runout as he continues to serve a suspension following his sending off against Salford City in the Carabao Cup.

The early stages were evenly contested, with both sides struggling to carve out chances in the final third.

The first real chance fell to Danny Edwards but his shot from the edge of the box hit Lamine Toure and crept wide of the post.

Conor Carty then nearly managed to get in behind the Fleetwood backline but was denied by a last-ditch challenge by Will Johnson.

But the hosts managed to gain control as the first half went on and missed a big chance when Danny Edwards sliced wide from close range.

Moments later, Max McMillan also should have done better after getting on the end of Will Russ’ low cross following a well-worked counter attack.

But Wanderers started the second half brightly and could have gone in front when Finlay Lockett was denied by Tom Donaghy after a slick passing move involving both Isgrove and Sheehan.

Edwards then managed to get the byline at the other end but was denied by Hutchinson from a tight angle.

Isgrove managed to get in behind but Donaghy made a smart stop to keep the scores level, with Carty firing over from the rebound.

The Welshman continued to ask questions of the Fleetwood defence, sending a low drive across goal that somehow evaded everyone.

Dewards then had Hutchinson worried with a dipping free-kick but his effort sailed over the bar.

The Whites made a trio of changes on the hour mark, with Sheehan, Isgrove and Lockett making way for Connor Stanley, Gez Sithole and Lynford Sackey.

Russ was a handful in the air at times and found McMillan with a knockdown, but Hutchinson was equal to the danger.

But Wanderers broke the deadlock 13 minutes from time when Conway played in Carty and the former Wolves youngster made no mistake with a ruthless finish.

And the Whites nearly added a second in the final stages when Sithole pulled it back to Stanley, whose shot was blocked by a defender.
