Daisy Hill will be looking to build on their good start to the season when they host Darwen at New Sirs in the North West Counties League First Division North tomorrow (3pm).

Three wins out of the first four games has pushed Daisy up to sixth place in the table, and manager Leighton Mills is satisfied with the start they have made.

“Looking back at the first four games, we have to be happy,” said Mills.

“To get any points in this league is hard, so if you had said to me after four games we’d have nine points from 12 and have a zero goal difference we’d have taken that.

“Last season it took us eight games before we got nine points, so we are 100-per-cent better than last year.

“You also have to remember three of the games were away from home and out of three away games we’ve picked up six points, and I’ll take that sort of away form all day long.”

This weekend’s visitors, Darwen, picked up their first win and first points of the season last weekend, but boss Mills is confident his side can keep their good run going.

He added: “Looking at Saturday’s game, Darwen are coming into the game on the back of a good win on Saturday.

“They lost their first three games but then got a good win and that will give them a little bit of belief.

“I’ve watched Darwen and we know where their threat is, but we also know where we can really hurt them.

“We’ve been working on that in the week, and we have prepared for the game in the two sessions on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

“We’ve got Hensley Mills and Connor Hughes available again, which is a boost for us, although Mitch Nolan will be missing.

“We will give Darwen the respect they deserve, but if we turn up like we know we can, it should be three points for us.”
