Wanderers are back in League One action as they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the UniBol on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).

Ian Evatt’s men enter the game on the back of a 1-0 win against Morecambe thanks to Conor Bradley’s first-half strike.

Team news

Ricardo Santos is back from suspension after missing Tuesday night's 1-0 win against Morecambe at the UniBol.

Dion Charles is also back in contention after missing several games due to a thigh strain, while Josh Sheehan and Lloyd Isgrove came through their B Team outing unscathed.

Summer signing Eoin Toal is not yet ready to be involved as he continues his recovery from an ankle problem.

The visitors will be without Reece James, who misses out through suspension, but Barry Bannan and Josh Windass could both return to the side.

Opposition lowdown

Wednesday brought in several fresh faces over the summer including the likes of Michael Smith, Will Vaulks and David Stockdale.

The Owls currently sit eighth in the league table after picking up seven points from their opening four matches.

Darren Moore’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat at Peterborough United in their last outing after goals from Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jack Taylor. They played just under an hour with 10 men after Reece James was sent off for a foul on Joe Ward.

Head-to-head

Wanderers have faced Wednesday 125 times in their history, with a record of 41 wins, 29 draws and 55 defeats.

The points were shared when the sides met at the UniBol last season, with MJ Williams scoring a dramatic late equaliser after Jordan Storey had opened the scoring.

The Whites’ last win in the fixture came in October when Sammy Ameobi and a Sam Hutchinson own goal sealed a 2-1 victory. Kieran Lee was on target for the Owls that day.
