Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore says Wanderers have made a “very good start to the season” ahead of Saturday’s League One clash.

The Whites have picked up eight points from their opening four matches, including wins against Wycombe Wanderers and Morecambe.

Moore is expecting “a great game” at the UniBol and says his side will have to bring their A game to get something from it.

“They have made a very good start to the season. They are a settled team. They have got a rhythm about them,” he told Yorkshire Live.

“They have got a wonderful flair about them. They are a team that I would have thought are looking to make an impact in the division this season.

“They will be pleased with their start to the season. It is a wonderful fixture for both teams. It is probably the fixture of the day.

“It will be a great game. They are a good team. We are going to have to be at our level best to get anything tomorrow.”

Barry Bannan and Josh Windass both dropped to the bench against Peterborough United on Tuesday night due to fatigue, but Moore says they are both ready to start against Wanderers.

The Owls suffered a 2-0 defeat at the Weston Homes Stadium after goals from Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jack Taylor – playing nearly an hour with 10 men after Reece James was given his marching orders for a foul on Joe Ward.

And Moore is keen to tighten up at the back ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Whites, who have already scored 10 goals in all competitions since the start of the campaign.

He added: “First time contacts, your goalkeeper, getting in the right position, doing your work early, anticipation, being proactive rather than reaction... all those things go in hand.

“It's a team ethics and dynamics in terms of working together. There is always things to work in attack and defence. There is work to be done every day.”
