Eoin Toal played 45 minutes as Wanderers’ B Team were beaten 2-1 by Blackpool in the Central League.

The defender hadn’t featured for the Whites since joining from Derry City over the summer due to an ankle problem.

Josh Sheehan and Lloyd Isgrove also managed around 75 minutes each as they continue to build up their sharpness.

The Whites took an early lead when Conor Carty beat the offside trap and guided an effort past Stuart Moore. The former Wolves youngster has now scored two goals in as many games.

Blackpool nearly had an immediate response but Luke Hutchinson made a fine stop to deny Rob Apter from a one-on-one scenario.

And the Bolton goalkeeper made two more impressive saves to deny Ewan Bange, first from an acrobatic overhead kick and then a towering header from close range.

At the other end, Isgrove was denied by the bar after meeting Sheehan’s pinpoint pass with a first-time volley from a tight angle.

The hosts also hit the woodwork when CJ Hamilton saw an effort cannon off the foot of the post following a dangerous cut-back from the left.

Just before the half-hour mark, Hutchinson’s poor clearance fell to Matty Virtue but the youngster did well to recover and keep his side in front.

Connor Stanley then found Toal at the far post with an inviting delivery but the defender couldn’t guide his header goalward.

The hosts managed to get back on level terms minutes before the break when Lubala tucked away from the penalty spot. Hamilton had again struck a post seconds before spot kick had been awarded.

Virtue also went close with a well-struck effort from distance but the ball flew just wide of the top corner.

Early in the second half, Lynford Sackey found Carty in the box but his shot was straight at Moore.

Blackpool went ahead when Hamilton finally managed to get on the scoresheet, keeping his cool to fire past Hutchinson.

The Whites almost got back on level terms through Andrew Tutte, but the post came to Blackpool’s rescue.

Matthew Tweedley also tried his luck from outside the box in the finals stages but Moore made a decent stop low to his right.
