B Team duo Finlay Lockett and Arran Pettifer have joined non-league Atherton Colls on loan for a month.

Both players were involved in the opening two matches of the Central League campaign against Fleetwood Town and Blackpool.

They will still be allowed to train with the B Team and play for Matt Craddock’s side during their loans at the Skuna Stadium.

Lockett became the second-youngest player in the Whites’ history when he came off the bench in the 0-0 draw against Coventry City in 2019.

The young forward returned from a cruciate ligament injury last season after spending the best part of a year on the sidelines.

He has made five senior appearances in total and had been tipped to make an impact on the first-team scene prior to the injury.

Meanwhile, Pettifer made two first-team appearances last season in the Papa John’s Trophy matches against Fleetwood and Liverpool Under-21s.

The young midfielder signed his first professional contract at the UniBol over the summer after completing a two-year scholarship.

Colls are currently 13th in the Northern Premier League top flight after picking up four points from their opening four matches.

Brad Cooke’s side drew 1-1 with Warrington Town in their last outing and are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Matlock Town.

Earlier this month, versatile wideman Matty Grivosti also headed out on loan to join National League outfit Yeovil Town.
