Ian Evatt has revealed Declan John picked up an Achilles injury during the warm-up ahead of his side’s 2-0 defeat against Plymouth Argyle.

Niall Ennis and Ryan Hardie got on the scoresheet for the home side either side of half-time.

Kieran Lee and Amadou Bakayoko both had chances at the other end as the Whites suffered back-to-back league defeats.

Jack Iredale returned to the side at left wing-back, while John was an unused substitute against the Pigrims.

When asked about the Welshman’s fitness, Evatt said: “He’s got a slight Achilles injury in the warm-up. We don’t know what it is yet until we get it looked at.”

The Bolton chief also shared an update on the fitness of Iceland international Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.

The forward missed the trip to Home Park due to a hamstring strain and is expected to spent more time on the sidelines.

Evatt added: “Jon will be two weeks (away). We’re missing him, we’ve not had a clear run with a lot of them.

“Dion [Charles] has picked up injuries, Jon’s picked up injuries, so we’ll try and get them in one piece as soon as possible.”

The result leaves Wanderers 10th in the League One table, having taken eight points from their opening six matches.

Evatt’s men are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Crewe Alexandra in the Papa John’s Trophy (KO 7pm).
