Wanderers’ B Team kick off their Central League Cup campaign against Huddersfield Town B this afternoon.

The match takes place at the Eddie Davies Academy and kick-off is scheduled for 2pm. Supporters are welcome to attend but are asked not to arrive before 1:45pm.

Matt Craddock’s side are in Group A and will also face Lincoln City, Rochdale and Rotherham United over the coming weeks and months.

Group B is made up of Blackpool, Carlisle United, Accrington Stanley and Fleetwood Town, while Preston North End, Wigan Athletic, Wrexham and Stoke City are in Group C.

The winner of each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the best runner-up also making the last four.

This afternoon’s fixture is a first home game of the season for the Whites following trips to North West neighbours Fleetwood and Blackpool in the league.

Craddock’s side ran out 1-0 winners against Fleetwood, with Conor Carty getting the decisive goal during the second half.

The former Wolves youngster was also on target against a strong Blackpool line-up but the hosts came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory.

Josh Sheehan, Lloyd Isgrove and summer signing Eoin Toal have all been involved with the B Team in recent weeks after returning from their respective injury problems.

Sheehan and Toal also featured in the 4-1 win against Crewe Alexandra in the Papa John’s Trophy, while Isgrove missed out due to a minor foot problem.

George Thomason also featured for the second string against Fleetwood while he was unavailable to play for the first team due to suspension, having been sent off in the 5-1 win against Salford City in the Carabao Cup opening round.

Today’s game is the first of a series of home matches for Craddock’s side, with Wrexham, Lincoln, Accrington and Preston also heading to Lostock in the near future.
