James Trafford played 90 minutes as England Under-21s recorded a 3-1 win against Germany at Bramall Lane.

The visitors took the lead through Felix Nmecha 10 minutes before the break, but Lee Carsley’s side hit back through Folarin Balogun, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer.

The Bolton goalkeeper didn’t have much to do but was called into action to deny Jan Thielmann on the stroke of half-time.

The Young Lions also recorded a 2-0 victory against Italy last week as preparations continue for next summer’s Under-21 Euro tournament in Romania and Georgia.

Meanwhile, Conor Bradley started as Northern Ireland were beaten 3-1 by Greece in Athens despite Shayne Lavery’s first-half effort.

The youngster managed 68 minutes before making way for making way for Bolton team-mate Dion Charles, who started on the bench.

Despite the result, Ian Baraclough’s side avoided a relegation play-off after Cyrpus suffered a heavy defeat in Kosovo.

Owen Beck was also in action as Wales Under-21s were beaten 2-0 by Austria after conceding either side of half-time.

The Liverpool loanee almost had an assist during the second half after picking out Joe Taylor, who saw his effort strike the foot of the post.

Beck made his Bolton debut against Tranmere in the Papa John’s Trophy last week as he continues to build up his sharpness following a frustrating loan spell in Portugal.

Earlier in the day, Amadou Bakayoko was left out of the starting XI as Sierra Leone suffered a 3-0 loss against Democratic Republic of Congo.

Wanderers’ internationals will now return to the club ahead of Saturday’s League One clash against Lincoln City at the UniBol.
