EFL pundit Sam Parkin believes Wanderers will be “a force to be reckoned with” if their strikers can keep scoring.

The Whites recorded a 2-0 win against Lincoln, with Dion Charles firing home from the penalty spot before substitute Jon Dadi Bodvarsson wrapped up the result six minutes from time.

Ian Evatt’s men have now won their last four league matches and remain in the top six despite having played a game fewer than some of the sides around them.

Parkin felt it was the right call to point to the spot after Elias Kachunga went down in the box under contact from Adam Jackson.

The former Ipswich and Luton striker singles out Charles for praise following his performance against the Imps, and also mentioned Wanderers’ defensive resilience this season.

Speaking as a pundit on the EFL highlights show, he said: “Lincoln made it hard for them.

“They set up in a 5-4-1 so against, not their principles but what they have been doing where the front players have impressed in the last few weeks.

“They went with a more structured, defensively-based [system] but Bolton broke them down. I think they are racking up the clean sheets and Kachunga brought down for this penalty.

“The referee initially pointed for a goal kick but quickly gets a shout in his ear, I would presume, to change it to a spot kick. And rightly so, definite tug from Jackson.

“And this is important, Charles sticking it away. He was fantastic today, he was electric. If the strikers start scoring as well as these clean sheets, they are a force to be reckoned with.”

Evatt’s men are back in action on Tuesday night when they head to Whaddon Road to take on Cheltenham Town (KO 7:45pm).
