Lloyd Isgrove played 90 minutes as Wanderers’ B Team suffered a 4-0 defeat against Blackpool in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup.

Brad Holmes bagged a brace, with Alex Lankshear and Grant Ward also getting on the scoresheet during a dominant opening 45 minutes from the hosts.

Blackpool named a strong line-up including Ward, who has made more than 50 appearances at first-team level and also had spells with Ipswich and Rotherham among others.

The hosts took an early lead when Moffat slotted home from close range after getting on the end of Holmes’ cross.

Blackpool doubled their lead minutes later when Lankshear guided home at the near post after Wanderers were undone by a low corner.

The Whites struggled to carve out opportunities during the opening 45 minutes but went close when Matt Tweedley sent an effort narrowly wide of the post.

Conor Carty, who was on target against Tranmere in the Papa Johns Trophy, also tried his luck from distance but his strike sailed over the bar.

Ward then added a third, giving Luke Hutchinson in the Bolton goal no chance with a superb strike from distance.

And Holmes doubled his tally moments before the break, tapping home after some good work by Lankshear on the left.

Wanderers were much better after the break and started to ask more questions of the Blackpool defence.

But Holmes nearly completed his hat-trick at the other end, firing wide from a tight angle after Hutchinson had initially made a decent punch.

Lamine Toure’s towering header at the far post appeared to have crossed the line but the centre-back was judged to have been in an offside position.

Isgrove, who looked lively when he got the chance to run at his man, also went close with a glancing header.

Connor Stanley managed to find space in the box during the final stages but a Blackpool defender made an important block.
