Wanderers face another trip to Gloucestershire at the weekend, this time heading to the New Lawn to take on Forest Green.

Ian Evatt’s men enter the game on the back of a late 1-0 defeat against Cheltenham Town on a night to forget at Whaddon Road.

The Whites are currently sixth in the League One table – seven points behind second-placed Ipswich but with a game in hand.

Team news

Ian Evatt is weighing up changes following Tuesday night’s defeat, which ended a run of four successive wins in the league.

Conor Bradley and Kieran Lee come back into contention after the pair were absent from the trip to Whaddon Road.

Josh Sheehan is also pressing for a first league start since November and looking “back to his old self” in training.

Aaron Morley, Elias Kachunga, Amadou Bakayoko, Kieran Sadlier and Dapo Afolayan were all used as substitutes against the Robins and would present fresh options for the Bolton boss.

Opposition lowdown

Ian Burchnall took charge at Forest Green over the summer following the departure of Rob Edwards, who left to take charge at Championship side Watford.

Burchnall’s side suffered a 3-2 defeat against Burton in their last outing despite finishing the game with a man advantage after Tom Hamer was sent off. Victor Adeboyejo scored a hat trick for the Brewers including a dramatic winner in the 92nd minute.

The Gloucestershire club currently find themselves 22nd in the table, having won two of their opening 11 matches since the start of the campaign.

Head-to-head

Wanderers have only faced Forest Green twice in their history, with a record of one win and one defeat.

The Whites recorded a 1-0 victory when the sides last met back in March 2021 thanks to Eoin Doyle’s first-half strike.

It was an important result in the League Two promotion race as Evatt’s men extended their unbeaten run and climbed above Forest Green in the table.
