Wanderers left it late to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory against Burton Albion at the UniBol.

The visitors went ahead during the second half when Sam Hughes headed home at the far post from Terry Taylor’s corner.

But Amadou Bakayoko pulled one back three minutes from time and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson completed the comeback in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Big goal for Bakayoko

Getting on the scoresheet will do Bakayoko a world of good after a difficult spell.

The forward took his goal well, catching out Ben Garratt with a first-time finish across goal after latching onto James Trafford’s long kick.

He has now scored three goals in all competitions and will be aiming to push on heading into Saturday’s clash with Oxford.

Bakayoko proved last season that he can be consistently ruthless in front of goal, scoring 13 times in all competitions.

Bodvarsson’s late heroics

The Iceland international has now scored twice in his last three matches after a difficult start to the campaign due to a series of injuries.

Bodvarsson made no mistake, slotting home with virtually the last kick of the game after a goalmouth scramble.

There were great scenes after the goal as the Bolton squad celebrated what could be a massive three points come the end of the season.

Evatt will be delighted that his substitutes have again made a big impact, and it testament to the squad depth Wanderers have build over the last year.

Sheehan looking sharp

Evatt has been cautious with Josh Sheehan in recent weeks following the midfielder’s return from a lengthy injury lay-off.

The approach seems to have paid off, with the Welshman looking very sharp after a promising cameo off the bench.

Sheehan was one of Wanderers’ most consistent performers prior his injury last season and has the ability to be a big player in the coming months.

However, there is fierce competition from Kyle Dempsey, George Thomason, Aaron Morley and MJ Williams in the middle of the pitch.

Getting the best out of Lee

Kieran Lee also made a big impact off the bench and was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet on a couple of occasions, hitting the woodwork and also forcing Burton goalkeeper Garratt into a smart stop.

The experienced midfielder also played a key role in the comeback against Accrington over the weekend, scoring the equaliser from close range.

Despite his injury problems, Lee continues to prove his worth at this level and Evatt has done a good job of managing his workload in recent months.
