Former Wanderers striker Joe Dodoo is back in League One after joining Burton on a short-term deal.

Dodoo arrived at the UniBol in October 2019 on a free transfer following his departure from Scottish giants Rangers.

The forward went on to score four goals in 27 appearances before the season was cut short due to the pandemic, with the Whites relegated to League Two after clubs voted to decide the final standings based on a points-per-game model.

He left Wanderers the following summer and went on to have spells with Wigan and more recently Doncaster.

Dodoo had been searching for a club since leaving the Keepmoat Stadium and is now hoping to make an impact for the Brewers.

The 27-year-old made his debut at the weekend, coming off the bench for the final 22 minutes in a 3-3 draw against Charlton.

Prior to Saturday’s game, he told the club’s website: “I spoke to the manager and he told me what he’s hoping the team can achieve this season.

“I’ve got history of playing against the club and I hope to be a great help for the club whilst I’m here, especially contributing with goals. I’m fit, I’m in great condition and I’m ready to go.”

Burton are currently 23rd in the league table, having won just three matches since the start of the campaign.

Manager Dino Maamria added: “He’s been training with us, and we’ve seen enough to offer him a short-term deal.

“He’ll add us good options in the front forward areas, so hopefully he can come in and be a success here.”

Wanderers came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory when the sides met at the UniBol last month after goals from Amadou Bakayoko and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.

Dodoo could come up against his former club in the reverse fixture at the Pirelli Stadium, which is currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 18.
