Wanderers have scored more goals in the final 15 minutes of games than any other side in the top four divisions of English football since the start of last season.

Late drama has been a regular feature of the Whites’ matches lately, coming from behind in the victories against Fleetwood, Burton and Accrington.

This has been a common trend for Ian Evatt’s sides since he took charge at the UniBol and even dates back to his Barrow days.

Wanderers have scored a total of 35 goals in the final 15 minutes of games since the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

Liverpool are the closest behind on 28 late goals, while Manchester City, Fulham and Wigan are all on 27.

In terms of League One, Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday are joint-second but are still a long way behind the Whites on 25 each.

Cheltenham, MK Dons and Oxford also rank highly on 23 each, with Portsmouth, Accrington, Fleetwood and Ipswich also making the top 10.

Speaking at the end of last season, Evatt told The Bolton News: “I think the trend started last year.

“I have seen stats where I think we’re the highest scorers in the last 15 minutes of games in English football, and I don’t think it's a coincidence. I think it’s down to attitude.

“I think it’s down to confidence of scoring, but also we ask teams questions and we wear teams out.”

He added: “Teams can’t defend or press the ball for 90 minutes and when they switch off and make mistakes because they’re fatigued, you can make it pay.”
