WANDERERS will only target loan players who can make a “huge impact” on their season in the January transfer window.

Ian Evatt says he would consider bringing more loan signings to the UniBol next month after the success of James Trafford, Conor Bradley and Owen Beck.

The Bolton boss has hinted that there will not be wholesale changes in January but that he has been given the go-ahead by club owners Football Ventures to bring in a handful of players who can help the top six push.

Evatt says he would only consider those who had the same sort of pedigree as his existing trio from Manchester City and Liverpool, respectively.

“Would I consider the loan market? Absolutely,” he said. “Conversations are taking place.

“We will only target what we perceive to be the very best loan players. Conor Bradley, James Trafford, Owen Beck, they are all international footballers that we feel have a huge bright future in the game and we will only target players that we feel can make a huge impact to our starting XI.

“It really is as simple as that. We have already highlighted one or two and we will see how we go with them.”

Evatt has had some success with the loan market, initially bringing Dapo Afolayan and Declan John on loan from West Ham United and Swansea City, respectively, before converting them to permanent deals in the summer of 2021.

Last year Marlon Fossey’s loan from Fulham looked set to be turned into a full-time move for the American – but the availability of Bradley from Liverpool promoted Evatt to change targets.

The Wanderers boss admits, however, that the standard of player being loaned makes it highly unlikely they will be sticking around in the long-term.

“I would love this football club to be in a position where we can sign Conor Bradley and James Trafford permanently because it means we are in a good place,” Evatt said.

“For now I think that’s a tad out of our reach, but if we can utilise the loans and have a mutual benefit between ourselves and these big clubs then why not utilise it.

“But for now, signing the likes of those players will be a pipedream, but hopefully not for too long because we have huge aspirations of getting back to where we believe we should be and in turn, that will mean we can approach those types and try and sign them.”
