The January transfer window isn’t too far away and Wanderers fans have already been discussing which areas the club should strengthen.

The Whites are currently fifth in the League One table – just a single point behind fourth-place Barnsley at this stage.

The club have tended to recruit well in the January window since Ian Evatt took charge, with the likes of Aaron Morley, Dion Charles, James Trafford and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson arriving at the UniBol 12 months ago.

The additions saw Wanderers become one of the form teams in the division during the second half of last season, eventually finishing in ninth place.

When asked about the upcoming window, many fans suggested that a striker should be high on the priority list.

Evatt’s men have struggled in the final third at times this season, averaging slightly above one goal per game in the league.

Charles is currently the top scorer with seven goals in all competitions. Bodvarsson and Dapo Afolayan are close behind on six and five respectively.

Another popular suggestion was an addition to the goalkeeping unit, with current number one James Trafford only on loan from Manchester City.

Here is a selection of responses from supporters about where Wanderers should look to strengthen next month.

Harry Kakoullis said: “Centre-back, a clinical striker and maybe an attacking midfielder who can pass through the eye of a needle”.

Ben Watkinson wrote: “A solid midfielder who can open up forward play. Another Lee!”

Colin Terry added: “A good old-fashioned striker,” while Craig Kershaw simply stated: “Crying out for a goalscorer”.

Iain Humphryson said: “Striker, goalkeeper on a permanent deal, centre-back and left wing-back.

Mike Hyde wrote: “A decent striker, a quality defensive midfielder, a good backup keeper and a left wing-back if we lose Declan John”.

William Hill added: “Keeper, centre-back and striker,” while Paul Dodd suggested: “Cole Stockton is on my most wanted list”.

Tony Henshall said: “For promotion a hard 50/50 midfield player. With next season in mind, a decent goalkeeper as Traff won’t be with us.”

Elliott Dagnall wrote: “An out-and-out number 10. I’ve always felt it seems to be a square peg in a round hole. To throw a name out there I’ve always liked the looked of Anis Mehmeti at Wycombe.”
