Wanderers have confirmed that their League One trip to Portsmouth will now take place on Tuesday, February 28 (KO 7:45pm).

The fixture was initially scheduled to be played on Saturday, September 24 but was postponed due to international call-ups.

However, the new date is also the weekend of FA Cup fifth round ties, which means there could be another postponement should Pompey reach this stage.

Danny Cowley’s men face a tough trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the third round, which will be played on Saturday, January 7.

Cowley previously claimed Portsmouth had wanted the Bolton game to go ahead on its initial date, but Ian Evatt has since laughed off suggestions that it could have been played fairly with his side missing key internationals.

Speaking in September, he said: “Well of course, when there is no Conor Bradley, Dion Charles, James Trafford! We would all want to play then wouldn’t we?

“Why wouldn’t you want to play when half of the (opposition) team's best players are missing?

“But that is football. I am sure again that Danny wanted to play it because his team are in good form.

“We would have liked to have played because our team is in good form but unfortunately for us we have internationals away which affect the balance and quality of our team, so why would we take that risk?”

Portsmouth are currently eighth in the League One table – three points behind Wanderers, although the Whites have played an extra game at this stage.

Cowley’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat at Wycombe in their last outing after goals from Anis Mehmeti and Garath McCleary.

Wanderers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Fratton Park last season despite a positive display, with John Marquis getting the decisive goal early in the second half.

The points were shared when the sides met at the UniBol back in April, with Kieran Sadlier’s penalty cancelling out Aiden O’Brien’s opener.
