Wanderers could move a step closer to Wembley when they take on Manchester United Under-21s in the Papa Johns Trophy last 16.

The Whites reached this stage thanks to a 3-2 win against League Two outfit Barrow last month after goals from Dapo Afolayan, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Elias Kachunga.

Meanwhile, United’s youngsters beat Wolves Under-21s on penalties following a goalless draw at Molineux.

Both sides also finished top of their respective groups, each picking up seven points from the three matches.

When and where is the game being played?

The tie takes place on Tuesday night, with the action set to kick-off at 7:45pm. Wanderers have never faced United’s Under-21 side in a competitive fixture and haven’t come up against the senior side in more than a decade.

The Whites’ last win in the fixture came in November 2007 when Nicolas Anekla got the decisive goal. It was Gary Megson’s first win in charge of the club.

Tickets for the fixture will remain on sale until kick-off and are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for over-65s and under-18s.

Only the lower tier of the Nat Lofthouse Stand will be open pending demand, and it is worth nothing that there will be no cash turnstiles in operation.
