WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).

JAMES TRAFFORD…6.5.

Big save in the first half from Emeran’s header which kept the game goalless. Effectively played centre-half for most of the match.

GETHIN JONES…6.

Had to be withdrawn with a lower back issue. Had made a solid start and tested Bishop with one stinging shot from the edge of the box.

WILL AIMSON…6.

Heaven knows he should have been on the scoresheet. Comfortable night, in all, and a chance to ease back into League One football if Jones is out for Exeter.

JACK IREDALE…7.

Used the space in front of him well, carried the ball and provided a few sumptuous crosses which should really have been finished off.

CONOR BRADLEY…8.

Got his goal in the end and was in the right position to get a couple more. Some of Bradley’s classy turns were a reminder of the level from which he comes.

KIERAN LEE…6.5.

Some 16 years after his own Manchester United debut, the midfielder was showing the kids how it was done. Knitted things together well.

AARON MORLEY…8.

His free kick was worth the entrance fee alone, but his work-rate has also improved in the middle of the park. Great to see him back on form.

KIERAN SADLIER…6.5.

An attacking selection on the left. Might have grabbed headlines on another night but whether it be shooting for goal, or creating for others, it just wouldn’t go in the net.

ELIAS KACHUNGA…7.

Used his experience well around the penalty box, dropping deeper and meaning Afolayan could concentrate on being a central striker.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…8.5.

Definitely enjoying himself at the moment. Always positive on the ball and stronger around the penalty box too. Have Wanderers finally integrated him into this formation?

DION CHARLES…5.

Could still be playing this morning and wouldn’t have a goal. It was just one of those nights. Needs to shake it off and take out the frustration on Exeter this weekend.

Johnston 6, 62 (for Aimson) – Able to coast to victory in the final stages.

Bakayoko 7, 62 (for Charles) – Grabbed a goal and looked in good nick Sheehan 6.5, 62 (for Lee) – Couple of pleasing touches and one decent chance.

Williams 76 (for Kachunga).

Not used: Dixon, Beck.

MANCHESTER UNITED U-21S (4-3-3): Bishop; Murray, Hardley, Bernard, Jurado; Savage, Iqbal, Hansen-Aaroen; Hugil, Shoetire, Emeran.

Subs: McNeil 69 (for Hansen-Aaroen), Collier 69 (for Hugil), Aljofree 88 (for Bernard) Not used: Mastny, Kambwala, Oyedele, Norkett.

Referee: Martin Coy – 8/10. Really nothing to complain about from the officials, who had a relatively easy night. One flashpoint late in the second half was dealt with methodically and calmly, which was nice to see.

Attendance: 4,735
