Conor Bradley wants to sharpen up in front of goal even though he moved on to half a dozen for the season against Exeter City.

The Liverpool loanee opened the scoring for Wanderers on Saturday afternoon but should have added a second with a header from close range later in the first half.

Wing-back Bradley has been one of Bolton’s most effective attacking weapons this season but the 19-year-old hopes to hone his craft in the second half of the season to become even more of a threat.

“I probably should have more goals than I do but six isn’t too bad for the season so far,” he told The Bolton News. “Hopefully I can push on now and get some more in the rest of the season.

“I do think I can improve. If I have got a target for the second half of the season then that’s it.”

Bradley was able to laugh off the missed header but admits he got a loving reminder from the dressing room on Saturday evening.

“I don’t know what happened, to be honest,” he said. “I tried to put it in the corner and it came off the side of my head. It was one of them, get up, go again.

“I got loads of ripping for it – but I’ll learn from it. Maybe work on my heading for next weekend and go again?”

Bradley has been given the green light by Liverpool to stay at Wanderers beyond January with the Premier League club thought to be pleased with the progress he has made in League One this season.

The Northern Ireland international is now looking to hit 10 goals for the season, and match the same number for assists.

“The gaffer wants me to get on the back post, get chances, and he wants me to take more than I don’t,” he explained.

“He definitely instils in me that I should be breaking my butt to get into the box and get on the end of things, and thankfully it has got me goals.

“I probably looked at getting double figures on goals and assists at the start of the season. If I hit that I think I’ll be doing alright.”

Asked what he would like for Christmas, Bradley added: “Bolton being in the Championship.”
