Dapo Afolayan has received a three-match ban for violent conduct during Friday night’s 1-1 draw at Lincoln City.

The incident involving Imps midfielder Lasse Sorensen took place in the 57th minute of the game, shortly before Eoin Toal’s equalising goal.

Afolayan was judged to have swung an elbow at the Lincoln player in the build up to a corner, an incident that was not spotted by match referee Geoff Eltringham.

An official statement said the attacker denied that his behaviour constituted violent conduct but the charge was upheld after an independent review.

The FA, via their FA Spokesperson Twitter account, said: "Bolton Wanderers FC's Oladapo Afolayan has been suspended for three matches after breaching FA Rule E1.1 during the EFL League One fixture against Lincoln City FC on Friday 30 December 2022.

"The forward denied that his behaviour during the 57th minute, in an incident that was not seen by match officials but caught on video, constituted violent conduct.

"However, the charge was subsequently found proven by an independent Regulatory Commission."

Afolayan will now miss the upcoming fixtures against Barnsley, Plymouth and Portsmouth.
