Wanderers forward Dion Charles has been nominated for the League One Player of the Month award for December.

Charles began the month with a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Bristol Rovers at the University of Bolton Stadium.

He then bagged a brace in the 3-2 defeat at Shrewsbury and was also on target in the 2-0 victory against Exeter.

The Northern Ireland international is now up to 11 goals for the season and has scored five times in his last eight appearances.

Charles faces competition from Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson, Plymouth defender Dan Scarr and Ipswich forward Conor Chaplin for the award.

Dawson has impressed since returning to the side, conceding just once in three games during December, and saved a penalty in stoppage time against Oxford.

Plymouth conceded just once in four matches with Scarr in the side last month and the defender scored the winner against Wycombe.

Chaplin managed four goals and an assist in December including a dramatic late equaliser against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

The winner will be announced on Friday, January 2023 and the judging panel is made up of EFL chief executive Trevor Birch, Don Goodman and Ivor Davies.

The nominees for the League One Manager of the Month award for December have also been revealed.

Gareth Ainsworth is up for the prize after his Wycombe side picked up 10 points from five games to climb towards the play-off places.

Michael Duff is also nominated after overseeing an unbeaten month which ended in fourth place prior to their 3-0 defeat against Wanderers.

Burton boss Dino Maamria makes the shortlist after picking up eight points from five games as the Brewers aim to climb out of the relegation zone.

Steven Schumacher completes the nominations after Plymouth extended their lead at the top of the table.
