Wanderers forward Dion Charles has been dealing with a rather personal injury over the past week.

The Northern Ireland international took a nasty blow during the 2-1 defeat against Derby at Pride Park last weekend.

He was shown a bizarre red card during the 1-0 victory against Forest Green on Tuesday night after Elias Kachunga appeared to lash out at Brandon Cooper off the ball.

That suspension has now been overturned, and Charles will be available for Saturday’s clash with Charlton at the Valley.

“There was a challenge at Derby after about 15 minutes on Dion,” said the Bolton boss. “He got a bit of a knee up the backside, which has swollen his bum up a little bit.

“In hindsight, he probably could have done with the rest on Tuesday! He will be okay but he is still a bit sore with that.”

Wanderers are also hopeful that MJ Williams will be available for the weekend despite picking up a knock in midweek.

The midfielder came off the bench for the final 17 minutes as the Whites held on to secure an important three points.

Evatt praised the Bolton supporters in midweek and hopes they can give the side an extra boost once again at Charlton.

He added: “They have a huge part to play because when everyone is positive and we rally around each other, we are a difficult juggernaut to stop.

“You have just got to look at our home record really since August, and it is pretty good. We have had some good victories and we need to start turning some of these away performances into wins as well.

“The away fans have been fantastic. They follow us the length and breadth of the country. We are going to work really hard to give it our best shot on Saturday and hopefully get the three points.”
