Wanderers defender Will Aimson has been linked with a move to fellow League One side Exeter City this month.

The 29-year-old centre-back has made 17 appearances since the start of the campaign and played a key role at the heart of defence while Ricardo Santos was out of action.

Aimson is out of contract in the summer and could be heading for the exit door before the window closes, according to a report by Football Insider.

He is said to be in "advanced talks" with the Grecians as Gary Caldwell aims to bolster his defensive options.

Caldwell’s side currently sit 13th in the table as they look to build on last season’s promotion from League Two.

When asked about potential outgoings this month, Ian Evatt told The Bolton News: “There will be and some may be a little bit unexpected – but my sole aim for every transfer window is to finish and exit stronger than when we started.

“Alongside that, I need to make sure I am making the best decisions, not for Ian Evatt, not for any individual, but for Bolton Wanderers. That is my pledge to the fans – I’ll do what I think is right to help this club move forwards.

“That won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but, genuinely, that is what I am trying to do and I can go to sleep knowing I am doing it.

“We are working hard and we’ll see where we get in this window but I’d hope we can get a couple of forward players in the building, which will help us, then there might be one or two more additions to bolster the squad if we feel we can let one or two go.”

Wanderers’ current centre-back options include skipper Santos, George Johnston, Gethin Jones and summer signing Eoin Toal.

Jack Iredale can also play in the role but is facing a lengthy spell out of action after having knee surgery.

The Whites have brought in Randell Williams, Dan Nlundulu and Shola Shoretire since the start of the window.

Meanwhile, Amadou Bakayoko and Dapo Afolayan have left to join Forest Green and German club St Pauli respectively.
