Wanderers have completed the signing of striker Victor Adeboyejo from Burton Albion on a three-and-a-half year contract.

The 25-year-old front man joins for an undisclosed fee which met the buy-out clause of his contract at the Pirelli Stadium, and has been reported as £500,000.

If so, Adeboyejo becomes the most expensive individual signing made by Bolton since Jay Spearing was brought in from Liverpool in August 2013 – nearly a decade ago.

Ian Evatt had already added veteran Cameron Jerome to his front line earlier today but will also be able to call upon Adeboyejo at Charlton Athletic tomorrow.

Wigan Athletic thought they had the striker’s signing wrapped up until recently when they failed to agree personal terms, and Bolton have also had to battle against other interest from the Championship over the past few days.

Adeboyejo is in the middle of his most prolific goalscoring season to date, grabbing 13 goals for Burton this season in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Nigeria-born, he started out at Leyton Orient and went on trial at Chelsea in the summer of 2017 before agreeing a move to Barnsley, which ground to a halt with loan moves to Bristol Rovers and Cambridge United, then a free transfer to Burton at the start of this season.

That move reignited his career – and put him on to the radar at Wanderers, where it is hoped he can continue his goalscoring form to push the club towards the play-offs, and potential promotion.

He will be cup tied in the Papa Johns Trophy, having previously played for Burton in the competition.
