Wanderers made it back-to-back wins in League One following a 2-1 victory against Charlton at the Valley.

Aaron Morley put the Whites in front with a stunning free kick but the visitors hit back through Albie Morgan early in the second half.

Dion Charles scored the winner in the 68th minute after Kyle Dempsey had pounced on a defensive error by Ryan Inniss.

Morley’s magic

You will struggle to see a better free kick than Morley’s this season, and Ashley Maynard-Brewer had absolutely no chance in the Charlton goal.

Former Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley even compared his technique to England legend David Beckham after the game.

It isn’t the first free-kick Morley has scored this term, and his quality from set-pieces is becoming a very useful weapon for the Whites.

The youngster looked lively throughout the game and was unlucky not to double his tally with a low drive from the edge of the box.

Shoretire looks the part

Manchester United loanee Shoretire looked bright during the first half, causing the Charlton defence countless problems.

The 18-year-old already looks comfortable at this level and has the ability to unlock defences with his pinpoint passes.

However, he was forced off with an injury during the second half and Wanderers fans will be hoping it isn’t anything serious.

It is still early days but Shoretire seems to have the talent to make a big impact during the final months of the campaign.

New faces

Victor Adeboyejo and Cameron Jerome came off the bench during the second half after joining from Burton and Luton respectively.

Adeboyejo showed some good hold-up play in the build-up to the winning goal and was also denied by an important block during the final stages.

Jerome also showed some bright moments, and Ian Evatt’s attacking options are starting to look rather exciting.

The Whites still have Southampton loanee Dan Nlundulu to come back into the picture, and their quality from the bench could be a key factor over the coming weeks.

John steps up

Declan John was brought on at half-time following an injury to George Johnston, getting the nod ahead of Randell Williams.

It was the Welshman’s first league appearance since the 1-0 defeat at Forest Green back in October, and he showed some promising signs in the final third.

John has been linked with a move away from the University of Bolton Stadium this month, but some fans are now calling for him to return to the side.

Lloyd Isgrove was also named on the bench. He has played just three times this season after returning from injury.
