Not just content with sorting the dressing room playlist – Wanderers skipper Ricardo Santos has revealed another string to his musical bow.

The big defender is tasked with collecting tunes that will get the dressing room revved up on a matchday for maximum performance.

But Bolton fans might not know that he also has another claim to fame on the music scene, having appeared in a music video for a top 10 UK hit.

J Hus’s ‘Did You See’ hit number nine in the charts in March 2017 – topping the R&B market – and was the lead single from the platinum-selling album, Common Sense.

The single and album were Brit nominated, and Common Sense was also shortlisted for the Mercury Prize.

A youthful Santos makes a cameo in the video which was recently spotted by some eagle-eyed Wanderers supporters.

“It’s amazing what they find,” grinned Santos. “His name is Jallow – J Hus – and he’s a good friend from back in Stratford.

“I don’t know how many people will know the song now because it was about six years ago but it was a big hit. You can see my face in the video for about 10 seconds.

“He’s big on the scene but I don’t think I’ll be doing many more of them – I’ll concentrate on the football.”

Santos has a tough enough time collating the Wanderers play-list and revealed that the wide range of musical tastes sometimes throw up a few surprises.

“Funnily enough, every club I have been at I end up being the DJ, I don’t know why but it always falls into my hands,” he said.

“It’s hard, though, some people like one thing, other people like another. We all put two songs in – even the gaffer, Pete (Atherton) and the staff - and then you press shuffle. If your song gets played, great, if it doesn’t, tough luck, sorry.

“When Doyler (Eoin Doyle) was here, he put one in there, and honestly, it was about 15 minutes long. It was some Irish tune and I swear to you, every time it came on I was reaching for the shuffle.”

Today’s game sees Santos return to former employers Peterborough United, and a heavyweight contest with their top scorer, and centre-forward, Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Having come through the frustration of Cheltenham Town last weekend, the defender believes the squad are ready to roll up their sleeves for a result.

“I don’t know Clarke-Harris personally, but I have played against him plenty of times,” Santos said. “He is a physical boy and I believe he’s even heavier than me.

“Every game is a test. Alfie May was a test last week. We just have to focus and keep a clean sheet.

“We are at that stage of the season where performances don’t matter as much, it is all about three points. Of course you want to play well but the win is the ultimate goal and if you get that, happy days.”
