Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is hoping Leif Davis’ injury will settle down ahead of Saturday’s trip to Wanderers.

The defender was forced off during the final minutes of Saturday’s 4-0 victory against Burton at Portman Road.

McKenna doesn’t think the injury will keep Davis, who joined from Leeds over the summer, out of action for too long.

He told the club’s YouTube channel: “I think it’s a hard kick, no more than that. We will have to see how it settles down, but hopefully no big issues there.”

Conor Chaplin bagged a brace against the Brewers, with Nathan Broadhead and Freddie Ladapo also getting on the scoresheet.

The Tractor Boys remain third in the League One table – three points ahead of the Whites despite having played two games fewer.

“It was a good win,” the manager added. “I thought it was an outstanding clean sheet against an opponent who puts so many balls in your box.

“To defend that many balls, we had to do a lot of things really well. It has been a big squad effort over the last three days.

“We have focused on it so much, we have gone over and over little details that would make the difference – how we could keep the ball on the pitch and how we could deal with throw-ins from different areas.

“You can’t get a clean sheet like that without the whole squad dialling into the details and executing it on the day.

“Of course, I’m delighted to get another four goals and show some ruthless finishing and good attacking play as well.”

McKenna’s side have now won their last three league matches as they aim to gain ground on the current top two.

The points were shared when Wanderers headed to Portman Road on the opening day of the season, with Lee Evans cancelling out Aaron Morley’s opener from the penalty spot.
