Wanderers are nearing 18,000 ticket sales for next month’s Papa Johns Trophy final against Plymouth at Wembley.

The Whites have been allocated just under 39,000 tickets for the fixture, which takes place on Sunday, April 2.

They are currently only on sale to season-ticket holders, but official club members will be able to purchase from 10am on Thursday. The general sale is set to begin a week later.

Chief executive Neil Hart has hailed the “fantastic response” from Wanderers fans so far and is looking forward to the occasion.

He told the club’s website: “We have been delighted by the fantastic response from our season ticket holders since we opened up sales last week, with approaching 18,000 tickets already sold for the final at Wembley.

“For season ticket holders who are yet to purchase during the Phase One priority window, I would urge you to act quickly before Phase Two opens up to our 43,000 Official Club Members on Thursday morning at 10am.

“A huge thanks from everyone at Bolton Wanderers for the superb support we have been shown so far by the fans – we can’t wait to see you all at Wembley in just a few weeks’ time.”

Ian Evatt’s men overcame Barrow, Manchester United Under-21s, Portsmouth and Accrington Stanley in the knockout rounds after fishing top of Group B.

The Whites won the competition in 1989 following a memorable 4-1 victory against Torquay. Under-18s manager Julian Darby was on target against the Gulls that day.

Prior to their trip to the capital, Wanderers have tough League One fixtures against Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday coming up as they aim to maintain their ground in the promotion race.

Evatt's men currently sit fourth in the table, although the sides around them have played at least two games fewer at this stage.
