Wanderers have passed 25,000 ticket sales for next month’s Papa Johns Trophy final against Plymouth at Wembley.

Tickets went on sale this morning to official club members after a period where only season ticket holders could purchase. The general sale is set to begin in a week’s time pending availability.

The Whites confirmed on their official Twitter page that just over 25,500 tickets had been sold at the end of the opening day of ‘phase two’.

The club has been allocated just under 39,000 tickets in total for the fixture, which takes place on Sunday, April 2.

Chief executive Neil Hart recently hailed the “fantastic response” from Wanderers fans and is looking forward to the occasion.

He told the club’s website: “A huge thanks from everyone at Bolton Wanderers for the superb support we have been shown so far by the fans – we can’t wait to see you all at Wembley in just a few weeks’ time.”

Ian Evatt’s men overcame Barrow, Manchester United Under-21s, Portsmouth and Accrington Stanley in the knockout rounds after fishing top of Group B.

The Whites won the competition in 1989 following a memorable 4-1 victory against Torquay. Under-18s manager Julian Darby was on target against the Gulls that day.

Prior to their trip to the capital, Wanderers have tough League One fixtures against Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday coming up as they aim to maintain their ground in the promotion race.

Evatt’s men currently sit fifth in the League One table – only behind fourth-place Barnsley on goal difference, although the Tykes have played three games fewer at this stage.

They could also move within three points of third-place Ipswich when they welcome Kieran McKenna’s side to the UniBol on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
