Wanderers’ B Team are back in friendly action tonight when they make the trip to Edgeley Park to take on a Stockport County B side.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm and supporters are welcome to attend the fixture, with tickets priced at £5 for adults and £1 for concessions.
Matt Craddock’s side will be aiming to build on their performance in the 3-2 defeat at Burnley Under-23s on Friday afternoon. Lloyd Isgrove and Finlay Lockett were both on target either side of half time.
MJ Williams and George Johnston also featured as the pair stepped up their respective recoveries from injury. Meanwhile, George Thomason got another outing as he continues to build up his sharpness following a spell out of action.
Speaking earlier this month, Craddock told the club’s website: “These friendly games have been an excellent addition to the fixture list.
“It was always our intention to play as many games as possible during the season to try and replicate a full fixture programme.
“We want the players to be able to cope with those demands to help prepare them for when they hopefully step up to first-team football here or elsewhere.
“Playing different types of opposition - from higher-ranked Academy sides to B Teams and full men’s teams - also helps the players learn to cope with different challenges and styles of football.
“That – and the loan opportunities a lot of our players have had – all aid learning and player development, which was the idea of the potential pathway to first-team football created by the introduction of the B team at the start of the season.”
The B Team’s next scheduled Central League fixture is a trip to Accrington on Tuesday, March 28 (1pm). Craddock’s side currently sit fifth in the table, having taken 10 points from nine games so far.
