Wanderers’ B Team were beaten 3-0 by a strong Stockport County side at Edgeley Park on Tuesday night.

Eight of the hosts’ starting line-up were members of the first-team squad, with 650 fans in attendance to watch the action.

Ryan Rydel opened the scoring for the Hatters, with Callum Camps and a trialist also target after the break.

The young Whites started brightly, with Max Conway sending a free kick over the bar during the opening stages.

At the other end, Jack Stretton saw a shot blocked from close range before Rydel had an effort saved by Ellis Litherland.

The Bolton goalkeeper was again involved moments later, managing to keep out Isaac Olaofe’s strike from the edge of the box.

Stockport’s pressure paid off seven minutes before the break when Rydel applied the finishing touch to Camps’ pinpoint cross.

The hosts doubled their lead early in the second half when Camps found the top corner with a lovely strike from 25 yards.

Stretton then had a chance to add a third from the penalty spot after Aaron Rowe was brought down in the box, but Litherland made a smart stop low to his right.

Matty Grivosti nearly pulled one back for Wanderers, but Bobby Jones managed to parry his effort round the post.

A trialist killed off the game during the final stages, rifling home after riding a couple of Bolton challenges.

Litherland made another decent stop to deny Stretton at his near post in stoppage time, before Dallas Omoruyi had a shot cleared off the line.

Matt Craddock’s side are scheduled to resume their Central League campaign on Tuesday, March 28 (1pm) when they make the trip to Accrington Stanley.

Meanwhile, B Team skipper Adam Senior has extended his loan at Halifax Town until the end of the campaign.

The versatile defender has made 11 appearances so far for the Shaymen, who currently sit 16th in the National League table.

Senior could be involved on Saturday afternoon when they make the trip to the Technique Stadium to take on Chesterfield (3pm).
