Bolton fans have reacted to the club’s victory in the Papa Johns trophy.

The team beat Plymouth at Wembley by a resounding 4-0 scoreline with two goals in either half.

The club sent around 35,000 people to the capital to enjoy the game.

Now back in Bolton, they are still on cloud nine following the win.

One who was there was Des Thorley.

The 64-year-old said: “I was at Wembley, it was absolutely fantastic.

“Our fans out sang theirs, you couldn’t hear them.

“It was one of the best days I have had as a fan, but I did enjoy being in Europe, that was brilliant.

The retired man from Hallliwell added: “The club is going in the right direction, Sharon Brittan is my hero, she has been absolutely brilliant for the club.

"We were singing her name."

As well as the 35,000 who made it to Wembley there was jubilation among people who remained in the town.

Ray Barnes watched it at home.

He said: “It was absolutely brilliant.

“I usually go down to Wembley but I didn’t make it this time.

“My lad was down there was as well as my grandson, they are absolutely buzzing I have just spoken to them.

The 77-year-old retired man from Farnworth added: “The club is definitely on the up.”

Anthony Kenyon was among the many who watched the game in the pub.

He said: “It was very exciting and a good scoreline of 4-0.

“It was a really good atmosphere.

The 36-year-old from Farnworth added: “The club is moving in the right direction.”

Julie Russ watched the game at the Conservative Club in Plodder Lane.

The 64-year-old woman who volunteers at Barnardo’s said: “It was brilliant.

“It was one of my best days as a fan.

“There was no trouble or anything.

“The club is on the way up.”
