Wanderers forward Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has stepped up his recovery from injury.

The 30-year-old hasn’t featured since the 3-0 win against Portsmouth in January after suffering an ankle injury which required surgery and is expected to be out for the rest of the season.

Prior to the injury, Bodvarsson had scored eight goals in 27 appearances for the Whites in all competitions.

He has now shared a video of him running on an Alter-G treadmill on his official Twitter page.

The experienced forward has had a torrid run of injury luck this season, also picking up a broken nose and a thigh issue.

Speaking in January, Ian Evatt said: “(The injury) was unexpected. It looked innocuous but sometimes as I have said before the innocuous ones can be the worst.

“I am gutted for Jon because we feel like he was just getting back to his best after a disrupted start to the season.

“The last few weeks we saw some really good signs for him. We will support him as always and hope that he makes a speedy recovery.”

Bodvarsson is one of several Bolton players currently out of action, along with Ricardo Santos, Eoin Toal and Jack Iredale.

His current deal is set to expire at the end of the campaign, having agreed an 18-month contract on his arrival from Millwall.

Wanderers bolstered their attacking option in the January window with the additions of Vitor Adeboyejo, Dan Nlundulu and Cameron Jerome.

Elias Kachunga and Dion Charles have impressed up front in recent weeks, with the latter taking his tally to 19 goals for the season in all competitions. He also bagged a brace for Northern Ireland against San Marino in a European Championship qualifier last month.
