Wanderers striker Dion Charles has been in FourFourTwo’s Top 50 players in the Football League.

The Northern Irish international has been in prolific form for the Whites this season, finding the net 19 times in all competitions.

Charles’ most recent goal came in the 4-0 win against Plymouth in the Papa Johns Trophy final at Wembley, slotting home from close range.

The 27-year-old also scored a hat trick in the 5-0 win against Peterborough at London Road back in February.

The annual list had the Bolton forward as the 11th best player in League One. Charles ranked 46th in the overall list ahead of Will Collar, Paul Smyth, Andy Cook and Hannibal Mejbri.

Former Wanderers midfielder Barry Bannan was chosen as the best player in the division, having impressed for Sheffield Wednesday.

Jonson Clarke-Harris also ranks highly, having scored 24 goals in 41 league matches since the start of the campaign.

Aaron Collins, Michael Cooper, Conor Hourihane, David McGoldrick, Josh Windass, Leif Davis, Bali Mumba and Conor Chaplin also made the League One top 10.

Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres topped the overall list, having managed 18 goals and nine assists in 41 Championship matches this term.

Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom and Sheffield United’s Iliman Ndiaye complete the top three, having also caught they eye in the second tier.

Oliver Norwood, Josh Brownhill, Nathan Tella, Joao Pedro, Amad Diallo, Ilias Chair and Ismaila Sarr also make the top 10.

The highest ranking League Two player was Northampton’s Sam Hoskins, who is averaging more than a goal every other game this season.

Owen Moxon, Lawrence Vigourouz, Carl Piergianni are also among those who made the list from the fourth tier.

The list is based on a fan vote, with supporters of each EFL club asked to name the standout players in their division, not including anyone in their own team. A weighted points system was then used to determine the top 50.

The full list can be read in the May edition of FourFourTwo, which is out now.
