Wanderers had to settle for a point following a 1-1 draw against Burton at the Pirelli Stadium.

Victor Adeboyejo opened the scoring against his former club after just five minutes, getting a slight touch on Aaron Morley’s low drive.

But the hosts hit back on the hour mark when Josh Walker tapped home after James Trafford had made a brilliant double save.

Victor’s happy homecoming

Adeboyejo was named in the starting line-up on his return to the Pirelli Stadium, having scored 13 goals for the Brewers during the first half of the campaign.

The forward reacted quickly to guide Morley’s strike past Craig MacGillivray as Wanderers took an early lead for the second game in a row.

He has now scored three times since arriving at the UniBol in the January window and will be hoping to push on during the final run-in.

Adeboyejo is just four goals away from reaching the 20-mark for the season – a milestone that strike partner Dion Charles reached earlier this month.

Missed chances

The Whites reacted well to Burton’s equaliser, getting back on the front foot and creating some big opportunities in the final third.

George Thomason volleyed over from close range, although it was an awkward one for the midfielder in fairness.

Substitute Cameron Jerome also fired into the side netting after Conor Bradley’s effort had been cleared off the line by Zac Ashworth.

Wanderers have scored six goals in their last eight league matches. The last time they scored more than once in a league game was against Port Vale on February 25.

Context is key

While there is an element of frustration, it is important to remember Burton have beaten Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley at home over the past month.

The Pirelli Stadium is not an easy place to visit and it could well prove to be a valuable point for Wanderers come the end of the season.

Peterborough, Derby and Wycombe all picked up maximum points in their respective fixtures last night.

But Ian Evatt’s men are still in the top six and have a game in hand over the sides around them, which means their fate is in their own hands heading into the business end of the campaign.

Trafford’s heroics

The Manchester City loanee produced another impressive display in the Bolton goal, making a good reaction save during the first half after George Johnston’s clearance bounced off Deji Oshijala.

Trafford also made an important stop to deny Charlie Kirk at 1-0 and was extremely unlucky with the equaliser.

He has been a big player for Wanderers this term and recently set a club record for the number of clean sheets in a single season (24). The previous record was held by David Felgate and Keith Branagan.
