Barnsley key man Mads Andersen could miss Saturday’s play-off semi-final first leg against Wanderers.

The defender has missed the last couple of matches due to an abductor issue and has had a scan on the injury.

Boss Michael Duff is hopeful he will be back available for their trip to the UniBol but admits he “can’t guarantee anything”.

Duff told The Yorkshire Post: "It’s a concern. He’s still not trained with the group yet.

“We’re hoping he’ll be fine but it is a concern because we’ve only got three training days between now and the next game. Hopefully he’ll be with us but we can’t guarantee anything."

He continued: “Hopefully he’ll be fine but we need to plan without him. Our promotion hopes don’t depend on Mads Andersen.

“Have we got a better chance when he’s in the team? Yes, because he’s been fantastic.

“But it can’t be ‘he doesn't’ play, we might as well pack up and go home now’. That’s not the case at all.”

Duff’s men were beaten 2-0 by Peterborough over the weekend after goals from Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jack Taylor either side of half time.

The Tykes, who finished fourth in the table, have now failed to win any of their last three matches heading into the play-offs.

“I’m a little bit frustrated to be honest, we’ve been done by a set-play,” the manager explained.

“It’s tough to replicate the intensity and concentration that is needed to play in these types of games.

“Credit to Peterborough, they’re a good team. I’m frustrated about when the second goal came in, I think we went flat after that and never really looked like getting back into the game.

“The last two weeks have been tough, but we’ve had a brilliant season and now we need to tune in again.”

Wanderers ran out 3-0 winners at Oakwell in January after goals from Dion Charles, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Kyle Dempsey. The hosts played most of the game with 10 men after Andersen was given his marching orders.
