The EFL have released the key dates for supporters’ diaries ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The current season is far from over for Wanderers ahead of Saturday’s play-off clash with Barnsley at the UniBol.

Ian Evatt’s men could be playing Championship football next term if they can make it past the Tykes over two legs and then beat either Sheffield Wednesday or Peterborough in the final.

But most teams have played their final fixture of the campaign and plans are already in place for next season.

The fixture list will be released at 9am on Thursday, June 22 and the league campaign will begin on Saturday, August 5 for clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two.

The EFL Trophy will begin on the week of September 4 and the final will take place on Sunday, April 7.

The Whites won the competition this season following a memorable 4-0 win against Plymouth at Wembley.

However, they will only get the chance to defend their title if they are unsuccessful in the play-offs this month.

Next season’s League One play-off final will have an earlier date of Saturday, May 18 and the Championship pay-off final will be played on Sunday, May 26.

Other notable dates include the first round of the Carabao Cup, which is scheduled for the week of August 7.
